Milwaukee Pavement Ant Control

Facts & Information

What are Pavement Ants?

Pavement ants get their name from their preference for nesting in or under pavement. Very similar in appearance to little black ants, these ants are brown to black in color and 2 to 3 millimeters in length. These ants eat a wide variety of foods, including insects, seeds, meats, and honeydew. Pavement ants are a common pest problem during Wisconsin’s spring and summer months. They are frequently seen alongside sidewalks and driveways.

Why Do I Have Them?

Pavement ants prefer to nest underneath and beside sidewalks, patios, and driveways. They will form small mounds of soil that help keep their nest cool during the summer months. Pavement ants are commonly found in Milwaukee and southeastern Wisconsin. Since they live near homes, pavements ants often invade houses through foundation cracks, searching for food and water.

Why Should I Be Concerned?

Pavement ants are problematic when they invade your home and property. They are not only a nuisance but they are known to contaminate food products. If not controlled, nests can grow quite large, which can be an eyesore on your sidewalk, driveway, and lawn.
