What are Mosquitoes?

While female mosquitoes also feed on nectar, they use their long proboscis to puncture skin and feed on human and animal blood. The blood meal assists in the female’s diet and the development of her eggs. A female mosquito can lay 100 to 200 eggs at a time.
Why Do I Have Them?
Mosquitoes breed on or near standing water, so properties near ponds or streams are at risk. Mosquitoes rest in thick grass and brush during the day and emerge at dusk to feed. A female mosquito only needs a thin film of water to lay her eggs. Bird feeders, old tires, clogged gutters, pet bowls, and wheelbarrows may harbor these undesirable pests.
