Baby Skunks Stuck in Window Well

Facts & Information

What are Skunks?

You don’t want to run into this animal rear-end first! Skunks are black and white mammals known for the intense and foul spray they can release as a defensive mechanism. These striped animals are nocturnal and excellent diggers. They have a keen sense of smell and hearing but poor vision. Skunks are about 2 feet in length and weigh around 5-13 pounds. Skunks are also body-heavy, making them very slow-moving animals.

Why Do I Have Them?

Skunks are common in Milwaukee and southeastern Wisconsin. Skunks will often enter yards searching for food and shelter. They will build dens underneath decks and sheds. Skunks will also tear up flower beds and lawns looking for grubs. Getting sprayed by a skunk is never fun, and it is very tough to get the smell out of your clothes and skin. Skunks are also common carriers of rabies and other diseases.
