Facts & Information
What are Chipmunks?
Chipmunks are small rodents with reddish-brown fur and white and black stripes along their face, back, and tail. They are well known for their chubby cheeks, lighting fast movements, and burrowing habits. Their underground dens consist of multiple chambers and tunnels that stretch out for 20 to 30 feet. Chipmunks love nuts, seeds, and berries and will tear up gardens looking for these foods. Chipmunks are about 6-10 inches in length and weigh around 1-5 ounces.
Why Do I Have Them?
Don’t be fooled by their cute appearance. Chipmunks cause countless problems for homeowners. They tear up flower beds and gardens looking for food. Bird feeders, nut-bearing trees, and gardens will attract chipmunks to your property. Chipmunks will chew wires and create underground burrows that can compromise the structural integrity of sidewalks, driveways, and garage floors, costing homeowners thousands of dollars in repairs.
