Milwaukee Oriental Cockroach Control

Facts & Information

What are Oriental Cockroaches?

Oriental cockroaches are often referred to as “water bugs” because they live in moist areas. They are shiny black in color, grow to about one inch in length, and lack fully-developed wings. Oriental cockroaches are also known for emitting a very strong and unpleasant musty odor. Originally from Africa, these cockroaches are relatively slow and less wary of threats compared to other types of roaches.

Why Do I Have Them?

Oriental cockroaches prefer dark, damp environments and are often found outdoors in sewers or underneath rocks or wood piles. They enter houses in search of food, moisture, and shelter. Oriental cockroaches travel through sewers and enter homes through pipes and drains. Once indoors, these roaches are usually found in damp areas, such as bathrooms, basements, and crawl spaces.

Why Should I Be Concerned?

Oriental cockroaches are very dangerous when they invade your home. They are filthy pests that breed and feed in unsanitary areas like sewers. They can contaminate food and spread bacterial diseases that cause diarrhea, asthma, fever, and other serious health concerns. Oriental cockroaches also have a very high reproduction rate. A female can produce up to 200 offspring in a year! If not controlled immediately, a small problem can soon turn into a full-blown roach infestation.
